The North Dakota Right to Work Referendum, also known as Referendum 2, was on the June 29, 1948 ballot in North Dakota as a veto referendum, where it was approved.[1] The measure required that persons not be denied work on the basis of thier membership status in labor unions or labor organizations. It also voided all contracts in negation or abrogation of the "right to work."[2]

Text of measure

The text of the amended statutory text reads as:[2]

§ 34-01-14. Right to work not to be abridged by membership or nonmembership in labor union. The right of persons to work may not be denied or abridged on account of membership or nonmembership in any labor union or labor organization, and all contracts in negation or abrogation of such rights are hereby declared to be invalid, void, and unenforceable.[3]
