|
|
The North Dakota State Treasurer Not Elected Referendum, also known as Measure 3, was on the June 13, 2000 ballot in North Dakota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was defeated.[1] The measure would have removed the state treasurer as an elected constitutional officer effective January 1, 2003. It also would have provided that the term of the state treasurer elected in 2000 would be two years. Additionally, it would have repealed a section providing for the duties of the state treasurer on issuance of legal tender by banks in the state.[2]
