Primary election

North Dakota was one of 16 states to use an open primary system. North Dakota had no voter registration -- in order to vote, voters were required to simply prove that they had resided in the state for 30 days.[1]
General election

Voting absentee

All voters are eligible to vote absentee in North Dakota. There are no special eligibility requirements for voting absentee.[4][5]
There is no specific deadline for applying for an absentee ballot. The completed ballot must be received by the appropriate election official by the close of polls on Election Day.[5][6]
Voting early

North Dakota is one of 33 states (plus the District of Columbia) that permit some form of early voting. Early voting begins 15 days before an election and ends on the day prior to Election Day.[7]
