A North Douglas School District Bond Measure was on the May 15, 2012 ballot in the North Douglas school district area which is in Douglas County.
This measure was approved
- YES 372 (66.67%)
- NO 186 (33.33%)[1]
This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $960,000 in order to help pay for school facility upgrades as well as upgrading technology in the district as needed.[2] School officials noted that old that the school buildings are old and need to be maintained otherwise students can not receive the education they need. Since it was approved, a tax of $.34 per $1,000 of assessed value will be implemented to pay for the bond but because a previous bond repayment levy if expiring this levy would be $.08 less than what is currently being levied in the district.[3]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
| Shall North Douglas School District issue $960,000 of general obligation bonds to upgrade school facilities and technology? If the bonds are approved, they will be payable from taxes on property or property ownership that are not subject to the limits of sections 11 and 11b, Article XI of the Oregon Constitution.[4] |
