A North Highline Area "Y" Annexation to Burien City measure was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in King County, which is in Washington, where it was defeated.
If approved, the North Highline Area would have been annexed to the City of Burien.[1]

Support
Those who support annexation argue that State Law says North Highline cannot stay unincorporated and that as Burien City residents the currently North Highline residents will have a greater voice in their future and will receive better services from Burien police service.
Opposition
According to those who oppose annexation, the only thing North Highline residents will get from annexation is additional city taxes and further restrictions from city ordinances such as parking tickets and permits for trimming trees. They also assert that the City of Burien does not have enough money to provide more services than are already provided by King County.[1]
