The Northern Mariana Islands Board of Education is a territorial government agency of the Northern Mariana Islands, responsible for overseeing the public school system.

Authority
The Northern Mariana Islands Board of Education's authority and jurisdiction are established in Commonwealth Code Title 1, Division 2, Chapter 5.
Qualifications
Candidates for the elected members of the board must be:
- Qualified to vote in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands;
- At least twenty-five years old; and
- "A resident and domiciliary of the Commonwealth for at least five years immediately preceding the date on which a member takes office."[1]
Elections
The board is composed of five voting members and three appointed, non-voting members, including a student representative. Each voting member serves a staggered four-year term beginning on the second Monday of January following the election. Elections for the Board of Education are nonpartisan.[2]

Vacancies
In the event of a vacancy of a seat with voting powers, the Governor will appoint a replacement. The replacement will be the candidate who received the next highest number of votes in the same election in which the former board member won office.[3]
