November 3 Election Review: Local judicial elections

On November 3, Ballotpedia covered local judicial elections in five states. Four incumbents lost re-election campaigns: three in New York and one in Pennsylvania. In addition to races for 177 contested elections, there were 132 uncontested candidates.
Kentucky

Mississippi

The state of Mississippi held scheduled judicial elections on November 3, 2015, and a runoff election on November 24, 2015. The filing deadline for 2015 candidates was March 3. New York

The general election in New York took place on November 3, 2015. Primary elections took place on September 10, 2015, and the filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in the primary was August 16, 2015.[2] Three incumbents were defeated in their re-election bids.
There were contested elections for the 3rd, 4th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th supreme court districts. A total of 58 candidates ran for 37 supreme court positions across 11 districts in 2015.

Pennsylvania

The state of Pennsylvania had contested common pleas court races in Philadelphia, Allegheny, Northampton, Erie, Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmoreland, Greene, Chester, Somerset, York, Berks, Delaware, Montgomery, Franklin, Bradford, Cambria, Adams and Lawrence counties. Washington

The state of Washington held scheduled judicial elections for 14 seats on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for 2015 candidates was May 15, 2015. The primary election scheduled for August 4, 2015, was cancelled due to a lack of contested races. Stephen E. Brown won re-election to Grays Harbor County Superior Court by defeating challenger Jean Cotton. Incumbents faced no opposition in the remaining 12 local races.
