OJ Oleka believes in the American Dream because his family has lived it. His parents came to the United States from Nigeria, where his father grew up in extreme poverty. Through hard work and unwavering faith, OJ’s family went from poverty to prosperity in a single generation.

That’s why OJ has dedicated his life to serving his home state and preserving America as a beacon of hope and opportunity. He is part of a new generation of Kentucky leaders who will chart a new course for our Commonwealth in the 21st century. That starts with new leadership in Frankfort.

When Governor Beshear’s COVID mandates threatened Kentucky kids' education, OJ fought back, keeping classrooms open for 57,000 students and helping save 10,000 good jobs. OJ served as Deputy Treasurer to Republican Treasurer Allison Ball, where he protected millions of tax dollars from fraud, defended private property, and won national recognition for budget transparency.

OJ graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Marketing, and from Bellarmine University with an MBA and PhD. OJ is married to Jamie Oleka. Together, they have two daughters. OJ and Jamie are deeply committed to their faith, and serve as leaders at Multiply Church in Frankfort.
  • OJ’s parents immigrated from Nigeria with nothing. They achieved the American Dream. OJ wants to preserve that opportunity for all Kentuckians.
  • As the former Deputy Treasurer for Republican Allison Ball, OJ is the experienced conservative candidate who can do the job on Day One.
  • OJ is a new generation Republican leader in Frankfort who can expand the Republican coalition for the foreseeable future.

I look up to my father. My dad lost his father when he was just four years old. Struggling to make ends meet and find opportunities in his small village in Nigeria, my father's mother sent my dad to a boarding school in Nigeria to get an education. The experience was hard, but it gave him the foundational skills to eventually get an opportunity to immigrate to the United States of America and go to college here. He and my mother worked hard and put three kids through college, and he himself got a PhD from Michigan State University and eventually became a college dean and pastor of a church here in Kentucky. He was a great husband and father for 34 years before passing away due to a sudden and massive stroke.

I look up to my dad because he was deeply committed to his faith in our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, and was the ultimate example of what a good man and great father looks like. He was also the embodiment of the American Dream. I want to be a great husband and father like that to my kids, and provide opportunities for every Kentucky family to have a shot at the American Dream, just like my family did.
The first memorable historical event that happened in my lifetime that I remember was September 11th terrorist attacks. It happened my freshman year of high school. I remember our assistant principal came over the intercom and explained what happened, and we began watching the live coverage in the morning. We all did not know how, but we knew our world was forever changed.
My first job was working at Panera Bread in my hometown of Frankfort, KY. I held that job during my senior year of high school before I went to college at the University of Louisville.
