Obama nominates magistrate judge for U.S. District Court in Hawaii

Hawaii: On Wednesday, April 21, President Barack Obama nominated Judge Leslie Kobayashi to serve as judge on the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. Kobayashi, a federal magistrate judge, will, if confirmed, take the seat left vacant by Helen Gillmor's move to senior status last year. Hawaii senator Daniel Akaka said this of the nomination, "Magistrate Judge Kobayashi is an outstanding and well respected jurist known for her fairness and timely rulings."[1]
Before Kobayashi can take the seat she will have to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
