Obama nominates six for district judge positions and one appellate judge

Washington, D.C. On Wednesday, January 26, President Barack Obama made an additional seven nominations to the federal judiciary. These nominations come after all of the nominations were returned to Obama at the end of the 211th Congress and resubmitted by Obama on January 5, 2011. The additional seven nominations bring the total number of pending nominations to forty-nine with a total of eighty-two current vacancies. Of those eighty-two vacancies, fifteen exist at the appellate court level with six pending nominations at that level.[1]

Nominations

Floyd to the Fourth Circuit

Henry Floyd was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit to replace the recently retired Karen J. Williams.

Green to the Western District of New York

Michael C. Green was nominated to the United States District Court for the Western District of New York to replace the recently retired David Larimer.

Manglona to the Northern Mariana Islands

Ramona Villagomez Manglona was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands to replace the recently retired Alex Munson.

Oetken to the Southern District of New York

J. Paul Oetken was nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York to replace the recently retired Denny Chin.

Ramos to the Southern District of Texas

Nelva Gonzales Ramos was nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas to replace the recently retired Hayden Head.

Silas to the Northern District of Georgia

Natasha Perdew Silas was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia to replace the recently retired Clarence Cooper.

Walker to the Northern District of Georgia

Linda T. Walker was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia to replace the Beverly Martin.
