Washington D.C.: Former Kansas Attorney General Stephen Six had a hearing today, May 31, before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Six was nominated by Obama on March 9, 2011, for a position on the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. Six's standing among members of the committee is unknown as the two Senators from Kansas, Republicans Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts, have remained silent about whether or not he would receive their support. Carl Tobias, a University of Richmond law professor, weighed in on the situation saying, "It would certainly help if he did have their endorsement. Maybe they are being cautious and wanting to see what turns up in the hearing. I don't think he is particularly controversial." The committee is not expected to vote today on whether or not to pass his nomination on to the full Senate, instead that vote will most likely take place in another hearing.[1]
