Obama resubmits 42 judicial nominations to the U.S. Senate

Washington, D.C.: President Obama has resubmitted 42 unconfirmed judicial nominations to the U.S. Senate. A number of the more controversial nominees faced heavy opposition from Republicans in the previous term. Now that Republicans control six more Senate seats, many believe confirmation of these nominees to be even less likely. The most controversial appointments include:
- Goodwin Liu to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals
- Edward Chen to the Northern District of California
- Louis Butler to the Western District of Wisconsin
- John McConnell to the District of Rhode Island
The other nominations which the President returned for consideration are:
- Arenda L. Wright Allen to the Eastern District of Virginia
- Anthony J. Battaglia to the Southern District of California
- Cathy Bissoon to the Western District of Pennsylvania
- James E. Boasberg to the District of Columbia
- Vincent L. Briccetti to the Southern District of New York
- Susan L. Carney to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals
- Claire Cecchi to the District of New Jersey
- Max O. Cogburn, Jr. to the Western District of North Carolina
- Mae A. D'Agostino to the Northern District of New York
- Roy Bale Dalton, Jr. to the Middle District of Florida
- Sara Lynn Darrow to the Central District of Illinois
- Edward J. Davila to the Northern District of California
- Charles Day to the District of Maryland
- Bernice Donald to the Western District of Tennessee
- Edward C. DuMont to the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals
