The Ohio Bonds for Unemployment Compensation Amendment was not on the ballot in Ohio as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 3, 2020.[1]

The amendment would have added a new section to the Ohio Constitution to allow the Ohio General Assembly to issue bonds to repay unemployment compensation paid by the federal government.[2]

To put a legislatively referred constitutional amendment before voters, a 60 percent supermajority vote is required in both the Ohio State Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives.

This amendment was introduced as Senate Joint Resolution 4 on May 12, 2020 by Senator Bob Peterson (R). On June 10, 2020, the state Senate passed SJR 4 in a vote of 32-0. It was then sent to the state House for consideration.[1]
