Ballot title

The ballot title for Declaration of Election Results Amendment was as follows:

To amend Section 3 of Article III and to repeal Section 4 of Article III, Ohio Constitution

To require the declaration of elections restults for state executive officers at the next regular session of the general assembly, thereby preventing the possibility of a special session of the outgoing general assembly being callled for that purpose, and to remove obsolete langauge from the constitution.

Shall the proposed amendment be adopted?

A 60% vote is required during one legislative session for the Ohio State Legislature to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot. That amounts to a minimum of 60 votes in the Ohio House of Representatives and 20 votes in the Ohio State Senate, assuming no vacancies. Amendments do not require the governor's signature to be referred to the ballot.
