Ohio Simple Majority Vote for Constitutional Amendments Measure was on the ballot as a constitutional convention referral in Ohio on September 3, 1912. It was approved.

  • provide that a constitutional amendment must receive a simple majority of votes cast on the amendment, rather than a majority of total votes cast in the election, and
  • change the requirement that newspapers must publish constitutional amendments from 6 months before the election to 5 weeks before the election.

A “no” vote opposed this constitutional amendment, thus:

  • continuing to require that a constitutional amendment must receive a majority of total votes cast in the election and
  • continuing to require that newspapers must publish constitutional amendments 6 months before the election.
