The Ohio Taxing Power of the General Assembly Amendment, also known as Amendment 2, was on the November 5, 1889 ballot in Ohio as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was defeated. The measure would have allowed the general assembly to provide for the raising of revenue for state and local governments through taxes.[1]
