There were seven local ballot measures on the ballots in Ohio for this election:
- Five measures seeking to increase school property taxes.
- One of the five property tax increase measures would also authorize a school income tax.
- This income tax was one of two proposed measures requesting approval of school income taxes.
- One of the other property tax increase measures would also authorize school bonds.
- This was the only bond measure in this election and would authorize bonds in the amount of $28,308,500.
- There was one measure authorizing a rezoning amendment.
- Three of the six school tax questions were approved and three were defeated.
Notable measures:
- One Coventry Local School District measure in Summit County requested both a property tax levy increase and authority to borrow over $28 million for construction and renovation improvements.

Important voting information
- Ohio has a mixed primary system. Voters must vote in the primary of same party as the voter participated in last primary election, but it is loosely enforced. However, if a voter wishes to vote in another party's primary, he or she must register with that party in order to vote.
- Registration must be completed at least 28 days prior to the election.

Voting early
Ohio is one of 33 states that has early voting with no specific requirements as to who can vote early. Early voting begins 35 days before an election and ends the day prior to election day.
Elections Performance Index
Ohio ranked 27th out of the 50 states and District of Columbia in the Pew Charitable Trusts' Elections Performance Index (EPI), based on the 2012 elections. The EPI examined election administration performance and assigned an average percentage score based on 17 indicators of election performance. These indicators were chosen in order to determine both the convenience and integrity of these three phases of an election: registration, voting and counting. Ohio received an overall score of 64 percent.[1]
