Oklahoma State Question 16 was on the ballot as an initiated constitutional amendment in Oklahoma on June 11, 1910. It was defeated.

A "yes" vote supported allowing out-of-state rail and transmission companies to operate in the state by filing incorporation documents and appointing a resident agent.

A "no" vote opposed allowing out-of-state rail and transmission companies to operate in the state by filing incorporation documents and appointing a resident agent.

Text of measure

Ballot title

The ballot title for State Question 16 was as follows:

That an extra section be added to Article 9 of the Constitution directing that any railroad, transportation or transmission company organized under the laws, of any other State, the United States or any Territory thereof, owning or operating, or wishing to extend a line or lines through this State may have the right and power to conduct such business after they have filed a copy of their articles of incorporation with the Secretary of State and appointed a resident agent upon whom legal process may be served.

In Oklahoma, the number of signatures required for an initiated constitutional amendment was equal to 15% of the votes cast in the last general election. In 2010, voters approved State Question 750, which changed the signature requirement to be based on the preceding gubernatorial election. A simple majority vote is required for voter approval.
