Oklahoma State Question 315 was on the ballot as an initiated constitutional amendment in Oklahoma on November 5, 1946. It was approved.

A "yes" vote supported requiring the legislature to fund common schools at $42 per student annually, based on statewide enrollment, and authorizing distribution of these funds to districts by a state agency in addition to existing school fund apportionments.

A "no" vote opposed requiring the legislature to fund common schools at $42 per student annually, based on statewide enrollment, and authorizing distribution of these funds to districts by a state agency in addition to existing school fund apportionments.

Ballot title

The ballot title for State Question 315 was as follows:

Shall a proposed amendment to Article XIII, Oklahoma Constitution, providing the Legislature shall raise and appropriate funds for annual support of common schools to the extent of $42 per capita based on total state-wide enrollment for the preceding year; authorizing distribution of such moneys to districts by an agency per capita amount, and authorizing the distributing agency to determine amount of funds allocable to any district, such funds to be in addition to permanent school fund apportionments otherwise provided by law, be approved by the people?

In Oklahoma, the number of signatures required for an initiated constitutional amendment was equal to 15% of the votes cast in the last general election. In 2010, voters approved State Question 750, which changed the signature requirement to be based on the preceding gubernatorial election. A simple majority vote is required for voter approval.
