Ballot title

The ballot title for State Question 556 was as follows:

Shall a statute relating to Congressional districts; repealing prior State Legislation which established and fixed the boundaries of Congressional districts; creating new Congressional districts and fixing their boundaries; and, providing an exception from its operation for any other governmental entities whose membership is based upon existing Congressional districts created by prior law be adopted by the people?

In Oklahoma, the number of signatures required for an initiated state statute was equal to 8% of the votes cast in the last general election. In 2010, voters approved State Question 750, which changed the signature requirement to be based on the preceding gubernatorial election. A simple majority vote is required for voter approval.
