April 11, 2012
PIERRE, South Dakota: Federal Judge Jeffrey Viken sentenced the forty nine year-old reenactor Paul F. Doering to 7 1/2 years in federal prison last Monday. During an Old West reenactment last June, Doering fired four live rounds into a crowd of tourists. Three were injured in the shooting. Judge Viken said, “It’s an absolute miracle that someone wasn't killed.” Doering is also a six time felon, making his possession of a firearm or ammunition illegal.[1]
