Two of five seats on the Olentangy Local School District Board of Education in Ohio were up for at-large general election on November 7, 2017. Both incumbents sought re-election. Incumbents Julie Wagner Feasel and Dave King won their bids for re-election unopposed.[1][2][3]
Former candidate Andrew Forgrave also filed for election but withdrew his candidacy in September 2017.[4]

Voter and candidate information
The Olentangy Local School District Board of Education consists of five members elected to four-year terms. Board member terms began on the first day of January following the election.[5] All members represent the district at-large. Two four-year terms were up for election on November 7, 2017.
Candidates had to be 18 years or older as of November 7, 2017, residents of the district for which they ran, and registered voters in that district.[5] Candidates had to file for this election with the Delaware County Board of Elections by August 9, 2017.

Campaign finance
There were two campaign finance deadlines for Ohio school board candidates in 2017:[8]
- The Pre-General was due on October 26, 2017.
- The Post-General was due on December 15, 2017.
All school board candidates whose names appear on the ballot are required to file pre- and post-election reports. A pre-election report is due 12 days before the election if candidates spend or receive $1,000 or more in monetary or in-kind contributions between the time they last filed a report and 20 days before the election. Post-election reports must be filed within 38 days after the election. School board candidates are required to file a semiannual report by the last business day in July if they do not file a post-primary report and they receive $10,000 or more during the semiannual reporting period.[9]

Olentangy Local School District is located in central Ohio in Delaware County. The county seat is Delaware. The county was home to an estimated 196,463 residents from 2010 to 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau.[10] The district was the seventh-largest school district in the state in the 2014-2015 school year and served 19,057 students.[11]
Demographics
Delaware County overperformed in comparison to the rest of Ohio in terms of higher education achievement from 2011 to 2015. The United States Census Bureau found that 51.8 percent of Delaware County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 26.1 percent of state residents. The median household income in Delaware County was $91,955, while it was $49,429 for Ohio. The county poverty rate was 4.4 percent in Delaware County, compared to the state's 14.6 percent.[10]
