Olin Parker is a third-generation educator, former Teacher of the Year, PTA member, and education leader who is running for school board because he believes in effective and equitable schools for every student in New Orleans. As a product of public schools, a former math teacher, and a public school parent himself, Olin understands that a strong public school education can change the life of a child, a family, and a city.
  • Opportunity for Every Child: Orleans Parish must be a place where every student receives the support, resources, and opportunities they need to be successful
  • An A-rated school in every neighborhood: Parents should have the option to send their child to a great school down the street if that's what they desire. And while we've seen an increase in the number of high quality seats that are available to students and families, we need more.
  • Implement a comprehensive racial equity plan, that includes equitable funding for schools, a strong Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, and equity training for all school and NOLA Public Schools staff.
My wife and I spend a lot of time talking with our children about our family's core values: Justice, Purpose, Kindness, Joy, and Integrity. We try to teach our three kids to stand up for others and to always do what is right. I will bring those same values to every decision I make on the Orleans Parish School Board.

I started my career in public education in 2007 as a certified math teacher at an alternative high school. Since my very first day in the classroom, I have worked diligently to improve public education as a former teacher of the year, assistant football coach, chess club founder, instructional coach, and administrator at the Louisiana Department of Education.

I am running for school board because I have the qualifications and experience, I believe deeply in the transformative power of an excellent public education, and have devoted my entire career to improving outcomes for Louisiana kids.
