Ponce earned his bachelor's in government from Sacramento State University in 2014.[1]

From campaigning for Republican candidates in California to working as a legislative intern in the California State Assembly, Ponce has taken an interest and been active in politics. At the time of his candidacy, Ponce was working as the regional political director for Doug Ose.[1]

2014

Ponce submitted the following statement to Ballotpedia:[1]

Many issues are ones that affect all, regardless of political affiliation, income level or status. I run to bring conservative fiscal policies to the Assembly; encouraging a beneficial economic climate in creating jobs, cutting taxes and allowing businesses to thrive. In addition, I believe it is our duty to conserve water now in creating reservoirs and dams- the sooner, the better.[2]

Elections for the California State Assembly took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 3, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Steve Cohn (D) and Kevin McCarty (D) defeated Mark Johannessen (D), Ralph Merletti (R) and Oliver Ponce (R) in the blanket primary. McCarty defeated Cohn in the general election.[3][4][5]
