Only three judicial races in Arkansas general election

Arkansas: The November general election in Arkansas serves as a runoff election for judicial candidates. Because most races were settled in the primary, only three judicial seats will be up for grabs in the fall.

• Arkansas Court of Appeals: The highest profile judicial race in November is for the Court of Appeals District 1, Position 2. The seat is currently held by Raymond Abramson, who was temporarily appointed to the court by Governor Mike Beebe in June 2010. Jeannette Robertson and Phillip Whiteaker are the candidates remaining after the primary. Robertson is an attorney in private practice and part-time District Court judge. Whiteaker has been a judge on the Arkansas 23rd Judicial Circuit since 1997.

• Arkansas 4th Judicial Circuit: Three individuals competed for the Division 4 seat in the May primary election, splitting the vote so that no one received more than 50%. Legal partner Bob Lambert and attorney Cristi Beaumont will compete for the seat previously held by Mary Ann Gunn.

• Arkansas 6th Judicial Circuit: Like the Fourth Circuit race, three individuals ran for the Sixth Circuit's Division 11 seat in the primary. Prosecutor John Hout and attorney Patti James will face off in November. The winner will succeed Beth B. Burgess, who was appointed to the court by Governor Beebe in June 2011.
