Maria F. Vazquez is the superintendent of Orange County Public Schools. Vazquez was appointed superintendent in September 2022. Her previous career experience includes serving in the district as a deputy superintendent, chief academic officer, and area superintendent. [1][2]

Orange County schools are overseen by an eight-member board elected to staggered four-year terms. Seven are elected by district, and one is elected at large and serves as the chairman of the school board.[4]

Elections are held on a staggered basis in the November general election.[5]
Four seats on the board were up for general election on November 5, 2024. A primary was scheduled for August 20, 2024.

Academic performance
Each year, state and local education agencies use tests and other standards to assess student proficiency.
