Oregon Ballot Measure 2 was a citizen initiated state statute filed by chief petitioners Bill Sizemore and Timothy R. Trickey in 2006. The goal of the initiative was to dictate that no appointed judges be considered incumbent in elections following appointment. It did not make the November 4, 2008 ballot.
The measure would have thus prohibited the labeling of any appointed judges as "Incumbents" on state ballots.
Oregon Ballot Measure 2 was one of 29 initiatives filed by Sizemore for the 2008 ballot. As of October 2007, Sizemore's website did not include Ballot Measure 2 as one that he is actively pursuing.[1]
History of the initiative
Sizemore and Trickey filed the wording for the initiative with the Oregon Secretary of State on March 2, 2006. Although the wording was filed in 2006, the intent of the measure's sponsors was to collect signatures to qualify the measure for the November 4, 2008 ballot.
Oregon Ballot Measure 2 was approved for circulation on August 9, 2006. It did not make the ballot however.
Signature requirements
In order to qualify for the ballot, 82,769 valid signatures needed to be turned into the Secretary of State's office.
