Ballot title
The ballot title for Measure Nos. 314-315 was as follows:
“ | CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT INCREASING STATE TAX FUND FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPPORT - Purpose: Adding to Article VIII, Oregon Constitution, a new section requiring the legislative assembly to create state fund, in addition to common school fund, for support of public elementary and secondary schools; fund to include revenue from taxes now provided by law for school support and sufficient to provide not less than forty-five cents per child per day of attendance for preceding school year. Taxes levied or imposed for fund not subject to six percent constitutional tax limitation. Until 1950, $8,000,000 to be applied annually to reduce property tax levies in local districts without affecting tax bases within six percent limitation. | ” |
