Orin R. Kitzes was a justice of the Queens County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the 11th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to this position in 1995 and was re-elected in 2009. He became a "certificated" justice in 2010.[1][2]

Education

Kitzes received his B.A. degree from Adelphi University in 1961. He then received his L.L.B. and L.L.M. degrees from the Brooklyn Law School in 1964 and 1967, respectively.[1]

Career

Kitzes began his career in 1964 as a private practice attorney. He then became a law secretary to Civil Court Judge Israel Rubin in 1973. In 1976, he served as an Administrative Law Judge on the Worker's Compensation Board. The following year, he became a law secretary to Supreme Court Justice Israel Rubin.

Kitzes began his judicial career in 1987, serving on the New York City Housing Court. He was elected to the New York City Civil Court (6th District) in 1989. He worked in this capacity through 1994 and was an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 1993 and 1994. In 1995, he was elected to the Supreme Court.[1]
