Oscar Medrano

Oscar Medrano is the Place 6 incumbent on the San Benito school board in Texas. Medrano was first elected to the board in 2003 to fill a vacancy. He was re-elected on May 10, 2014. On May 6, 2017 he lost the election for another term.
Biography
After graduating from San Benito High School in 1990, Medrano attended Southwest Texas State University, Texas State Technical College and the University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College. He graduated from the Texas Association of School Board’s Leadership TASB Program in 2010, becoming the first school board member from San Benito to earn the distinguished title “Master Trustee” designation. He has been employed by the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville as the Patient Advocate and Volunteer Services Coordinator for the hospital.[1]

2017
Four of seven seats on the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District board of trustees were up for by-district general election on May 6, 2017. Orlando “Papas” López defeated Chon Lopez Jr. in the race for Place 4. M.L. Garcia defeated Mario Silva for the Place 5 seat. Challenger Victor Rosas defeated incumbent Oscar Medrano in Place 6. In Place 7, incumbent Angel Mendez defeated Joe González in the race.[2][3]
