My name is Owen J Suhy and I am running for the 104th district seat in Michigan’s House of Representatives. I am here to provide an increasingly uncommon value of fiscal responsibility and election integrity. I have attended Northwestern Michigan College to obtain my degree in Accounting. I want to serve my community in an effective manor, advocating for the issues important to Michiganders.
  • We need to ensure Michigan has a balanced budget. While a budget surplus is preferable to deficit spending, this shows that Michiganders are paying an excess of income taxes that could instead be used to benefit a taxpayer’s standard of living, directly in their paychecks.
  • Free and fair elections are vital to preserving our constitutional republic. It seems that our fairness has been exploited to a point where we can no longer have complete confidence in our electoral process. Michigan’s voter ID law should be absolute, striking out the provision for an “AFFIDAVIT OF VOTER NOT IN POSSESSION OF PICTURE IDENTIFICATION.” We need to do everything we can to ensure that each eligible voter cast exactly one vote.
  • Electing me as your state representative will bring a fresh perspective, passion for this great community... and a little bit of youth.
I look up to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. His handling of COVID-19 policies stood out to me as a tremendous example of making sure the citizens of Florida do not lose their freedoms in times of emergency, allowing those who wished to isolate the same freedoms as those who wished to continue a normal life. I would like to follow his example of preserving personal liberty, rather than testing the limits of government control.
My first job was at Culvers restaurant in Blair Township, Grand Traverse County. I worked here throughout high school and learned fundamental skills in interpersonal communication and relationship building.
Our Michigan Constitution outlines the separation of duties between the executive and legislative branches. Respectful and interpersonal communication should always be present when communicating with anybody, regardless of any distinction.
Prior political and governmental experience can hold an individual at-risk of becoming corrupt and a servant to their donors. True political pioneers enter office with the sole intention of serving their community and know when the time has come to pass the torch to the next invested individual.
