Taylor posted the following questions and answers on his campaign Facebook page:
“ | What are some of the challenges you see facing the next sheriff? Identifying solutions to the design and construction issues facing the detention center, as well as identifying alternative/additional funding to enhance the operations of the office and stabilize personnel issues. Since I took over on March 2, we have already instituted several cost saving measures by identifying where we can do more with less. The detention center is a problem that affects the county and the city. It is imperative we work together and increase our partnerships and cooperative efforts where we are able. What are your plans to make an impact on the office of Sheriff? I officially took over on March 2, 2017. From day 1, I have been making efforts to implement changes to boost efficiency and agency morale. We’ve refocused the patrol division to the unincorporated areas to provide a rapid response time to those in the unincorporated areas. We’ve reinstated the warrant team to get back out on the streets hunting down wanted individuals. We’ve made it a priority to reduce the amount of time it takes to be released once bond has been posted. Every day we are examining all aspects of the agency to ensure we are operating in an efficient and fiscally sound nature. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made in such a short time, and realize there is still much to be done. At the end of the day, I want an office where the employees are proud to be here, the inmates are safe while in our custody, and the public is protected. If I am able to accomplish these points, I will consider my time a success.[6] |
