P. Gwynett Hilburn

P. Gwynett Hilburn was the chief judge of the 3A Judicial District, which presides over Pitt County in North Carolina. She joined the court in 1996. Hilburn was appointed chief judge in December 2016, effective January 1, 2017.[1] She retired in March 2018.[2]
Education
Hilburn received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida and her J.D. from Tulane University.[3]

General: She defeated David C. Sutton in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 68.0 percent of the vote.

Judicial performance evaluation
In July 2014, the North Carolina Bar Association released the results of a survey in which it asked lawyers to rate the judicial candidates for the trial courts. The candidates were rated from one to five on five different criteria as well as on their overall performance.[5]
