Brousseau's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[4]
“ | The Flint Water Crisis
The Flint Water Crisis didn't happen overnight, and it won't be solved overnight. We need leadership in Lansing that can get results.
Emergency Financial Manager Law The Emergency Financial Manager played a key role in the Flint Water Crisis. However, removing the law would place cities such as Flint, at the mercy of bankruptcy judges. Vital services could be eliminated. City property such as parks and museums could be sold off. The EFM law must be reformed. In Lansing I will propose the following:
Accountability It is important to hold our elected and appointed leadership responsible for the quality of life in Flint. Every couple years, our leaders must seek our permission to continue as our elected representatives. Whether that be in Lansing or City Hall, the power we have as Flint residents is we have a check on incompetence . Taxes Taxes are an important part of paying for government. However, taxes can have an adverse impact upon both employers and employees. Flint is one of a few municipalities which has an income tax. My opponent advocated raising taxes on Flint residents 50%!!!! I will hold the line on taxes and seek to find ways you will take home more of your paycheck.[5] |
