Whitaker ran for re-election for judge of the Georgia 5th Superior Court District Atlanta Circuit. She won in the general election on May 24, 2022.

She was appointed to the court by Governor Nathan Deal (R) on February 7, 2017, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Jerry W. Baxter.[1]
Biography
Paige Whitaker received a B.A. in political science from the College of Charleston in 1985 and a J.D. from Duke University in 1992. She has served as an assistant district attorney in Fulton County, an assistant district attorney for the Georgia Department of Law, and a Fulton County Superior Court judge.[1][2]

Selection method
There are 202 judges on the Georgia Superior Courts, each chosen by the people in nonpartisan elections to serve a four-year term.
The process for selecting a chief judge and that chief judge's term varies by circuit.[3]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:
- a state resident for three years;
- a resident of the circuit he or she is representing;
- admitted to practice law for at least seven years; and
- at least 30 years old.

|Judge Whitaker is a Duke Law graduate, a former prosecutor, and an appellate expert. She has presided over felony criminal jury trials, civil jury trials, and family law jury trials. She has also served as a Parental Accountability Court Judge. Judge Whitaker is Vice-Chair of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence; an elected member of the Georgia Bar Association’s Board of Governors; and a Committee Chair for the Georgia Chief Justice’s Statewide Covid Task Force. She served on the Judicial Council‘s Committee on Criminal Justice Reform. Judge Whitaker is also an Adjunct Professor of Law, and she has received advanced training at the prestigious National Judicial College. Judge Whitaker serves in leadership roles of numerous organizations and is the recipient of numerous awards. Judge Whitaker is endorsed in her bid for re-election by three former Georgia Supreme Court Justices, two former Georgia Governors, two former Georgia Attorneys General, and dozens of national, state, and local elected officials on both sides of the aisle. Judge Whitaker has also received the endorsement of Georgia Equality and of the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
Judge Whitaker seeks re-electio to continue her service to Fulton County.- Experience matters, and Judge Whitaker‘s experience is proven. Judge Whitaker is the only candidate with experience as a Fulton Superior Court Judge, the only candidate elected by the voters to be a judge at any level, and the only candidate who has the authority and experience presiding over jury trials.
