Campaign themes
2014
Barlow listed the following issues on her campaign website. For a complete list, click here[5]
- The Economy
- Excerpt: "We do not have a Revenue problem, we have a SPENDING problem. It is not the Federal Government’s job to pick winners and losers, act as venture capital for private corporations, or spend for Unconstitutional reasons. We can not now nor will we ever be able to afford a cradle to grave nanny state."
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Excerpt: "The Federal government should be as small as possible to do the things that it is Constitutionally required to do. The problem with sending money to Washington to do anything is that it is NOT cost efficient. For every dollar that the Federal government takes in taxes, less than 50% is returned to the benefit of We the People. And, most of that return comes in the form of programs or “pork” spending, things which the Founders never intended the Federal government to be involved in the first place!"
- Budget
- Excerpt: "Congress would make and pass a truly balanced budget each year, with no items “off budget” just to make it look right. For too many years things have been left off budget in order to continue deficit spending while giving the appearance of doing the right thing. I call that lying to the American people, and it needs to be stopped."
- Tax Reform
- Excerpt: "I am in favor of abolishing the IRS, and replacing it with the Fair Tax or other consumption/sales tax. Personally, I think tying taxes to income was a very bad choice. It provides a disincentive for earning, saving, and investing — all things that create a robust economy. "
- Reforming Congress
- Excerpt: "I am in favor of Term Limits. If I am elected to serve, I would NOT be spending all my time thinking about re-election. In fact, I signed the U.S. Term Limits Amendment Pledge on 12 Sept 2011. In compliance with that Pledge, I will volunteer FOUR-SIX YEARS to serve in Congress, and then I will campaign and work to help replace myself with some other worthy Conservative individual."
2012
Barlow's campaign website listed the following issues:[6]
- Tax And Spend
- Excerpt: "The Federal government should be as small as possible to do the things that it is Constitutionally required to do. The problem with sending money to Washington to do anything is that it is NOT cost efficient."
- Sanctity Of Life
- Excerpt: "I believe that life begins at fertilization, and that at that very moment a singularly created individual human being exists. The rest of the pregnancy is just incubation. And I believe that every baby is a blessing, although not always for the Birth Mother."
- No Amnesty For Illegal Aliens
- Excerpt: "I agree with the Arizona Law, and the need to close and enforce ALL of the borders of the United States. We do NOT need "comprehensive immigration reform," we need to vigorously enforce the laws already on the books."
- The Second Amendment
- Excerpt: "The Constitution affirms the right of every law abiding citizen to keep and bear arms. I do not believe the Government has the authority to abridge this right unless the gun owner is found guilty of committing serious criminal acts and is ruled to be a danger to the populace."
- Equal Opportunity
- Excerpt: "It means every US citizen gets treated exactly the same and has the same chance for success or failure regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, etc."
- Energy/Oil/Global Warming
- Excerpt: "Drill, baby, drill. Any questions? I have a working well on my property behind my house, but I don't own any part of it or get any royalties from it unfortunately. I am very much in favor of pursuing solar, nuclear, wind, and any new energy technology that might move us forward."
