Pam Dechert is a lifelong Hoosier and resides in Indianapolis with her husband Derek and 11 year old son.
- I am a working mom who gets it. I will fight to make Indiana a place and an economy that works for everyone.
- It is time to invest in all of our people and all of our communities through bold and collaborative solutions.
- We need more diverse voices speaking for everyday people assuring equity for all Hoosiers.
Assure equity & equality: Indiana is a welcoming place and our laws need to match our Hoosier hospitality. We have to make sure that we eliminate discriminatory laws so that every single Hoosier feels safe, secure, and protected equally under the law - regardless of gender, race, creed, color, religion, national origin, economic status, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
We must focus on the quality of life & health for Hoosiers. This means reducing the cost of prescription drug prices, addressing the alarming infant and maternal mortality rates in our state and providing access to quality affordable infant childcare and healthcare.
In fact, the personal life experiences first time candidates who represent a more diverse cross section of our State are crucial to addressing the issues we will face in our State. Too many citizens with passion, intelligence, empathy and a strong work ethic don't want to 'be in politics' because of the idea that it is for 'insiders'. Everything I have learned professionally, in my volunteer roles, and in my community engagement has prepared me with an invaluable understanding of how to approach the role of a state legislator. For me - 'politics' is a bad way to describe what public policy and government is all about. While I am passionate about public policy, government and politics - my view is informed through the lens of what real people need and want from our elected officials. Being willing to work hard for your constituents, listen to them and advocate for them is just as critical as previous political experience.
Human Affairs and Employment, Labor and Pensions. Each represent key public policy areas I would focus on improving within our State.
