Five seats on the Parkland School District Board of Directors were up for general election on November 3, 2015. A primary election was held on May 19, 2015. The board is made up of nine members who represent the district at-large.
Incumbents Lisa Adams, Bob Bold, David Kennedy and Jef Reyburn won re-election. Carol Facchiano also joined the board. They defeated Rochell Figueroa.[1][2]
Adams, Kennedy and Facchiano won in both the Democratic and Republican primaries. Figueroa and Bold both won Democratic nominations. Reyburn won a Republican nomination. Martin Brans and David Caruth did not win a nomination from either party and did not advance to the general election. No independent candidates filed to run in the general election.[2]

The Parkland School District is located in east-central Pennsylvania in Lehigh County. The city of Allentown is the county seat. According to the United States Census Bureau in 2013, the population of the county was 355,092.[3] In the 2012-2013 school year, the Parkland School District was the 20th-largest school district in Pennsylvania and served 9,263 students.[4]
Demographics
Lehigh County underperformed compared to the rest of Pennsylvania in terms of higher education achievement. According to the United States Census Bureau in 2013, the percentage of Lehigh County residents over 25 with a bachelor's degree or higher was 21.8 percent, compared to 27.5 percent of residents in the state overall. The median household income in the county was $54,923 compared to Pennsylvania's statewide median of $52,548. The poverty rate in the county was 13.7 percent, compared to Pennsylvania's overall rate of 13.3 percent.[3]

Voter and candidate information
The Parkland Board of Directors consists of nine members who are elected at-large to four-year terms. The primary election was held on May 19, 2015, and the general election was held on November 3, 2015. Five seats were on the ballot in 2015.[1]
School board candidates had to file for this election with Lehigh County by March 10, 2015. Those wishing to run as an independent candidate had until August 3, 2015, to file. To vote in the primary election, residents had to register by April 20, 2015, and to vote in the general election, residents had to register by October 5, 2015.[6]
