Redistricting is the process of drawing new congressional and state legislative district boundaries. This article details the partisan composition of the legislative committees or commissions involved in the redistricting process in the states in the 2020 cycle.

The Arkansas State Legislature is responsible for drafting and approving congressional district maps. Meeting jointly, the House and Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committees were responsible for the initial consideration of any proposals. Board of Apportionment
The Arkansas Board of Apportionment consists of three members, the Governor, Attorney General, and the Secretary of State.[4] The three members of the Board in the 2020 cycle are,
- Governor Asa Hutchinson (R)
- Attorney General Leslie Rutledge (R)
- Secretary of State John Thurston (R)
Staff
On June 7, 2021, the Arkansas Board of Apportionment hired former Arkansas State Supreme Court Chief Justice Betty Dickey to be its redistricting coordinator.[5] The redistricting coordinator holds meetings to collect input from the public and oversees the redistricting process.[6] Dickey began working in the position on June 15, 2021.

Connecticut
The following individuals were appointed to the Connecticut Reapportionment Commission.[10] On Oct. 20, commissioners selected Senate Minority Leader Kevin C. Kelly (R) and House Speaker Matthew Ritter (D) to serve as chairs. At the same meeting, the eight appointed members selected Kevin Johnston (D), a former state Senator and state auditor, to fill the ninth spot.[11] Johnston later resigned and the eight appointed members selected former Senate Minority Leader John McKinney (R) as his replacement on Nov. 16.[12] The ninth member of the commission only votes in the event of a 4-4 tie between the eight appointed commissioners.

Oregon
In Oregon, the following committees are involved in the redistricting process: the House Special Committee on Redistricting and the Senate Committee on Redistricting. Secretary of State Shemia Fagan (D) announced she would form an advisory citizen committee to weigh in on the redistricting process if the legislature is unable to approve maps.[63] On Sept. 20, during the first day of the special session on redistricting, Speaker Tina Kotek (D) changed which committees would handle the maps. Rather than have one committee, the House Special Committee on Redistricting, advance both the legislative and congressional maps, she announced the House Special Committee on Congressional Redistricting and the House Special Committee on State Legislative Redistricting would each advance either the congressional maps or the legislative maps, respectively.[64]

On July 7, 2021, Marvin Gilliam Jr., one of the eight citizen members on the commission, stepped down, citing health reasons. On July 19, 2021, the commission voted 13-1 to approve Virginia Trost-Thornton, a lawyer from Forest, Virginia, to take Gilliam's place on the committee.[74]
State Sen. Steve Newman (R) announced his resignation from the commission on September 4, 2021. “I have enjoyed working with my colleagues on the Virginia Redistricting Commission for the past nine months,” he said, but did not provide a reason for his resignation. Senate Minority Leader Tommy Norment (R) chose Sen. Bill Stanley (R) as Newman’s replacement.[75][76]
