Democratic primary election

The Democratic primary election was canceled. Incumbent Pat Ballard advanced from the Democratic primary for Alabama 10th Judicial Circuit Place 10.

2014

Ballard ran for election to the 10th Circuit Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on June 3, 2014, receiving 30.5 percent of the vote. He competed against Charles H. Boohaker, Wyndall A. Ivey and Perryn Carroll.
Runoff: Because no candidate received over 50% of the vote in the primary, a runoff election on July 15 between Pat Ballard and Perryn Carroll was required. Ballard narrowly won with 50.2% of the vote, just 58 votes ahead of Carroll.
General: He defeated Gloria Bahakel in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 51.1 percent of the vote. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

Education

Ballard earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M in 1976 and his J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law in 1996.[9]

Career

Before his election as a circuit judge, Ballard was an attorney in private practice with a focus on civil litigation. Prior to attending law school, he was a carpenter for 15 years.[9]
