Pat Contreras
Pat Contreras (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Missouri State Senate to represent District 7. He lost in the Democratic primary on August 6, 2024.
Contreras was a 2016 Democratic candidate for treasurer of Missouri.[1] He was defeated by fellow Democrat Judy Baker in the primary election.
Biography
Contreras grew up in Kansas City, MO, and earned two undergraduate degrees from St. Louis University. After graduating, he returned to Kansas City to enroll in the Coro National Fellows Program in Public Affairs. He then moved to New York City to pursue a master of public administration from Columbia University, after which time he joined the U.S. State Department as a foreign services officer, serving in Pakistan and Mexico.
After his tour of duty in the foreign service, Contreras was appointed to the Jackson County MO Veterans Task Force in 2014.[2]

- Increasing the monthly income threshold and asset limits for Medicaid eligibility
- Expanding the state's 529 college tuition savings program
