Patrice K. Sutherland is a Minnesota First Judicial District judge for Dakota County, Minnesota. She was appointed to this position on July 1, 1990 by Gov. Perpich and was elected to a full term in 1992. She was retained again in 1998 and 2004. Her current term expires in January of 2017.[1]

Education

Sutherland received her B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1976 and her J.D. degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1980.[1]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Sutherland practiced with the firm of Sutherland & Strandemo from 1980 to 1990. She specialized in criminal defense, family law, social security disability and juvenile law.[1]

2010 election

Sutherland was re-elected after running unopposed.[2]
