Patricia Birkholz was a Republican member of the Michigan State Senate from 2003 to January 1, 2011. Due to Michigan term limits, Senator Birkholz did not run for re-election in the Michigan State Senate elections of 2010. [1]

Birkholz served as the President Pro Tempore of the Michigan Senate, and Lieutenant Governor John Cherry served as the President of the Senate. Birkholz also served on the Michigan House of Representatives from 1996 to 2002 and briefly was the Assistant Majority Leader in 1997.

Birkholz started her political career as a Treasurer for Saugatuck Township from 1982 to 1992 and for Allegan County from 1992 to 1996. Birkholz also was a Former District Staff Assistant for Congressman Fred Upton from 1990 to 1992. Birkholz graduated from Western Michigan with her Bachelor's degree.

On November 7, 2006, Birkholz ran for District 24 of the Michigan State Senate, beating Suzzette Royston.[4]
