Biography

Patricia Jamieson was born in Atmore, Alabama. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 2018. Jamieson's career experience includes working as a clinical health coach, LPN, certified cancer registrar, and ordained minister. She has been associated with the National Cancer Registrars Association, the Alabama Cancer Registrars Association, and the SCLC.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

A native Alabamian born and raised in Atmore. I am not a professional politician but I have been a public servant all of my adult life. I am a nurse, ordained minister, certified Clinical Health Coach and a Certified Cancer Registrar. It is my passion to see Alabama Unified and excelling in all areas of life.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• To improve the state’ s national educational ranking from 49th to the top.
• Livable wages for all Alabamians. Public and private sector partnership , high school workforce development , and other measures to increase wages.
• Improve health care accessibility especially in our rural communities.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Healthcare and Education.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

My Paternal Grandmother. I would follow her example because she was a woman of integrity and wisdom.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

Psalm 133:1 “ Behold , how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”

Proverb 29:2 “ when the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.

“ We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools”. MLK Jr.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Trustworthy , men and women of integrity of forward thinking and vision.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I have a heart for the people , I want to see Alabama excel in exponential growth.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To uphold the US and Alabama constitution.

Economic growth including all citizens.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The assassination of President Kennedy. I was 9 years old.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

A senior nursing assistance , 6 years

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Bible, because it has always answered my questions and fulfilled my needs.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

There is none I would want to be.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Learning to navigate in a dual reality system .

A governor is the top executive authority in his or her state. What does that mean do you?

The Governor is responsible for the well-being of the state. It his his or her responsibility to implement the state laws and to carry out the responsibilities of the executive office .

Governors have many responsibilities, which vary from state to state. Which of those do you personally consider the most important in your state?

Health , safety and welfare of the citizens.

Different states require governors to have different degrees of responsibility for the state budgeting process. If it were your choice, what do you believe is the appropriate degree of gubernatorial involvement with this process in your state?

The budget performance .

In most states, governors have the power to make line-item vetoes. If that is true in your state, what would be your philosophy for how and when to use this power?

The line-item vetoes would be used when certain items would have adverse impact on the state . They would be sent back to the Senate for modification or revision .

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

They should come together for the common good of the citizens.

What do you love most about your state?

It’s home for me, and she’s evolving .

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Economic growth.

Under what circumstances should the governor of your state be able to use emergency powers?

When the health and welfare of the citizens are at risk.
