Patricia Starr
Patricia Starr is a judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She assumed office in 2014. Her current term ends on January 1, 2029.
Starr ran for re-election for judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
Starr was initially appointed in March 2014 by Gov. Jan Brewer (R).[1]
From 2011 until being appointed judge, Starr had served as a commissioner on the superior court.
Biography
Patricia Starr received both a B.S. in health sciences and a J.D. from Arizona State University in 1987 and 1992, graduating magna cum laude in both. She began her legal career as a clerk to Arizona Court of Appeals Judge Jefferson Lankford (1992–1993). Starr then alternated between roles as deputy county attorney in Maricopa County (1993–2002, 2003–2005) and assistant attorney general for the Attorney General of Arizona (2002–2003, 2005–2008).
Starr became a capital staff attorney for the Arizona Death Penalty Judicial Assistance Project (2008–2011), until she was appointed commissioner on the superior court.[1]
