Patricia L. Veres is a lifelong Morris County resident, family law attorney and mediator, and successful small business owner. Patricia has spent her adult life advocating on behalf of women and families from her time serving as the public defender for Denville Township, volunteering for the Legal Clinic at the Women’s Center at County College of Morris and the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project, where she still volunteers today. Her experience as a single mother of two, putting herself through law school and building her legal career shaped her desire to fight on behalf of New Jersey families. Patricia is the proud co-owner of Randolph Jazzercise, LLC, and worked with her business partner and staff, to navigate the myriad of restrictions imposed by the COVID pandemic. Patricia was elected to the Wharton Borough Council in 2016 and helped pass a balanced budget keeping taxes stable and the municipality “debt-free.” She was instrumental in advocating for infrastructure repairs and improvements at the Borough Library as well as working on the renewal of Borough Memorial Park and a new dog park. Patricia understands the challenges and struggles of working families and, if elected, will continue her fight and advocacy on behalf of all New Jersey families in the State Legislature.
  • From Dover and Randolph to Morristown and Boonton to the Mendhams and the Chesters, our towns have so much to offer. We need to ensure that our communities continue to be desirable places to live, work, and raise a family. We are fortunate to have some of the best public schools in the country right here in our district, but that shouldn't create too heavy a burden on taxpayers. We need to make sure that we are fully funding our school funding formula and properly allocating school funding aid at the state level to decrease the property tax burden on our communities. Programs like the First-Time Home Buyer Down Payment Assistance Program will help make home ownership more accessible for all New Jerseyans and attract young professionals to
  • A woman’s health decisions should be between her and her doctor. It is critical that we pass the Reproductive Freedom Act to protect reproductive rights and improve access to critical healthcare services including birth control, mammograms, and pregnancy-related care.
  • We need to work together to find common sense solutions to our gun violence crisis. We need to ensure our children feel safe in our schools and in our communities. It is critical that we keep deadly weapons out of the hands of violent criminals and domestic abusers while respecting the Second Amendment and rights of responsible gun owners. Our state has led the way in preventing gun violence through an assault weapons ban and large capacity magazine limits, but deadly weapons are still making their way to New Jersey, which is why we need to implement policies to prevent illegal weapons from being brought across state lines.
From completing important infrastructure projects, to providing strong fiscal oversight and balanced budgets, to improving communications and transparency, I believe in working to make our communities stronger by putting people before politics and working effectively with others to get things done. I hope to bring my on-the-ground experience as local elected leader to Trenton.
