An election to recall Village Board Trustee Patricia Wagner was held on February 11, 2025, in McCool Junction, Nebraska. A majority of voters voted in favor of the recall, removing Wagner from office. Recall organizers needed at least 42 valid signatures to trigger the recall election.[1][2]

Recall supporters
Larry Blum organized the recall effort. Blum alleged that Wagner violated open meeting laws, behaved abusively toward employees, and directed businesses not to contact members of the village board and village clerk.[1]
Recall opponents
Regarding the recall effort, Wagner said, "To my knowledge I have followed the open meeting laws. I have never spoken abusively to any employee or member of the public, nor have I directed anyone to not speak to the village clerk or any board members, and request proof of all allegations."[1]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Nebraska.[3] The number of signatures required to put the recall on the ballot depends on the office type. A majority of offices require signatures equal to 35% of the total vote cast for that office in the last general election.[4] Petition signatures must be filed within 30 days of the filing clerk issuing the petitions.[5]
