Patricia Warner barred from serving as a judge in Alabama

Montgomery County, Alabama: On Friday, January 27, the Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission filed its agreement to settle with former Montgomery County (Circuit 15 Court) family court Judge Patricia D. Warner resolving the 74 charges that had been brought against her in late June. Warner suddenly left the court on June 15, just 6 days before the original charges were brought. The settlement barred Warner from serving as a judge in Alabama due to “the appearance of impropriety” that was established in her reluctance to recuse herself in a timely manner from a custody case that was included in the original charges. She agreed to one charge and the remaining 73 charges were dropped. The commission felt that ultimately, Warner “voluntarily imposed the ultimate sanction on herself: removal from judicial office.” She also forfeited her judicial retirement, by resigning from her term early. Despite the settlement, Warner maintained that the charges "were all made up.” Since leaving the judiciary, she has relocated the North Dakota.[1]
