2016

The following issues were listed on Brutus' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Safer Neighborhoods: We obviously need to eradicate not only crime, but corruption amongst those who are sworn to defend our rights. The Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Branches of Municipal and State governments work in defending citizens is directly impacted by the failed policies offered/proposed and passed by Executive and Legislative Branches across our country. Specifically in Chicago, we are witnessing firsthand the complete breakdown in a system that is NOT aligned to serve the people’s interest.
  • Lack Of Economic Development: The population shifts from the City to the suburbs in South Cook and Will Counties has had a measureable positive impact on the tax base of those areas of the 1st District. However, that has caused an unnecessary and uneven tax burden on those still residing and doing business in the City of Chicago. Since to this day, there is no coordinated economic and community development strategy between Cook, Will and the City of Chicago this situation calls for a sensible regional plan that includes attracting business/industry/retailers to some of the hardest hit areas of the District so that the recruitment of those in the labor force to real sustainable jobs will re-stabilize these areas.
  • Corruption In Government: As Congressman, I will introduce a Bill whichcalls for broader transparency requirements for municipalities with over 25,000 residents that receive federal funds and utilize at least 5% of those funds as part of their operating budget (civil payouts to resolve lawsuits, procurements, etc.).[7]
