Patrick Calder
Patrick Calder was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Maine.
Biography
Calder was raised in Eastport, Maine and attended Shead High School, graduating in 2000. He attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy, graduating with a B.S. in Marine Engineering in 2004.[1]
Career
Calder is a merchant mariner and marine engineer.[1] He is a member of the Marine Engineer’s Beneficial Association (MEBA) and is employed as the First Engineer on the world’s only American-flagged cruise ship, the Pride of America operated by Norwegian Cruise Lines.[1]
Elections
2012
Calder ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Maine's 1st District. Calder sought the nomination on the Republican ticket.[2][3] Incumbent Chellie Pingree ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Calder was defeated by Jonathan Courtney in the Republican primary.[4] The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was March 15, 2012. The primary elections were held on June 12, 2012.

Calder was defeated by Jonathan Courtney by a margin of approximately 1% in the Republican primary.[5]
